Janett Marion Baker Yeatman, 83, of Salem, Virginia, departed this earth Saturday, June 22, 2019, to be reunited with her Maker. She lived in Salem since 2003, after having lived in Virginia, Georgia, and Florida. She left behind a large family and a reputation for creating beauty in the everyday details.
Janett was born in 1935 to Virginia and John Baker in Fredericksburg, Virginia. She met the love of her life, Julian Howard Yeatman Jr., when she was 14, and later married in 1954.
Everywhere she lived, Janett created a beautiful home for her family. She could turn the daily into the exquisite, the boring into the glamorous, and the mundane into the impressive. It was her way of saying that even when life became ugly, unfair, oppressive, or sad, you could always find beauty in the world, even if you had to create it yourself.
Janett is survived by the love of her life, Howard (Salem, VA), her son and daughter-in-law, Bud and Cindy Yeatman (Moyock, NC), her daughter Jeri Beth Person (Salem, VA), and her daughter and son-in-law Amy and Tony Brown (Cochran, GA), her sister and her husband, Sallie and Wyatt Omohundro (Mechanicsville, VA), her brother-in-law Charles Wallace (Winchester, VA), sister-in-law Diane Bruce (Richmond, VA), her perfect grandchildren and their spouses – Michael, Stephen, and Scott Inks, Amanda and Josh Ryan, Tyler and Bekah Person, Corey Brown, Evan Nobles, Adriene Allen, and Katelyn Brown. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Denise Yeatman who died in infancy, and her sister, Peggy Wallace.
