Obituary for Edwin Kelly Harless

Edwin “Ed” Kelly Harless, 93, of Salem, Virginia, passed away February 21, 2019, at Lewis Gale Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Ed was a Navy veteran. He was also a graduate of Roanoke College where he was a member of the Hall of Fame. During his life he was a teacher/coach at Andrew Lewis High School. He then became an insurance agent with State farm.

Ed is preceded in death by his parents, Lelia Gertrude Vaught and Zannie Ward Harless and his brother, Herbert Harless. He is survived by his wife, Bernice “Bunny” John Harless; children, David Harless, Paul Harless, and Janet Kubik; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held Sunday, February 24, 2019, from 2-4:00 P.M. at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home & Crematory, 305 Roanoke Blvd., Salem, Va. 24153. A private family graveside service will be held Monday at Sherwood Memorial Park. Reverend Mark Tolley will be officiating.
